What is Feng Shui?

Feng Shui (pronounced “fung shway”) is based on an ancient Chinese system of laws governing spatial arrangement and orientation in relation to the flow of energy (Qi). Feng Shui takes the approach that your surroundings affect not only your material comfort but also your physical and mental health, your relationships, and your success.

Feng Shui literally translates to “wind-water” in English. In Chinese culture wind and water are associated with good health, thus good Feng Shui came to mean good health and good fortune.

Good flowing Qi (life-force energy) will also contribute to harmonious, good quality relationships, vibrant health and an overall sense of well-being.

Stagnant Qi will do the opposite. It can attract negative energy into your home, which could be the cause of a variety of undesirable events and experiences.

Your home’s energy flow interacts with your personal energy flow, and the goal of Feng Shui is to achieve a design that frees the energy and helps you live a more fulfilled life. Whether we’re aware of it or not, objects in our environment affect our energy flow, which in turn affects how we think and act – which influences our personal and professional development.

How can Feng Shui help me?

When you come home, do you feel the stress of the day wash away? You should feel satisfied, lighter, energetic and motivated. If you do not get a positive feeling from coming home, but rather feel tired, restless or overwhelmed, then your home and family life can most certainly benefit from balance by a professional Feng Shui consultant.

Feng Shui is about creating a harmony and balance in your life, whether you are a single person living in a tiny apartment, a large family or are downsizing in the later part of your life.

Feng Shui for the Office

Everyone likes being productive and efficient at work, whether your office is in a downtown high rise or in the guest room of your home, and although you may not realize it, negative energy in your work space could be reducing your (and your employees’) productivity, health and happiness.

Because we spend so many hours at the office, it’s important to incorporate Feng Shui health tips (not just productivity tips) into the office layout and décor.

Stress that we are not aware of damages us the most and a Feng Shui consultation can assist in identifying the stress points in your office – and eliminate them.

A well laid out office, with the right energy (Qi) will help you (and your employees) feel inspired, productive, and powerful as well as enhance creativity, discipline and success.

Having the right energy (Qi) in your office does not bring you wealth if you do not strive for it, but it does give you the necessary support to attract the energy of productivity and in turn, success and wealth. Feng Shui can help you create an environment that strengthens you and helps attract the energy of wealth.

There are many “schools” that are put into practice these days. I personally prefer a combination of Form School and Traditional Compass School as, to me, they are the most effective. Using a common sense approach to Feng Shui, which I learned from a master instructor/practitioner, I combine these methods with touches of interior design and environmental psychology to deliver the best possible outcome for my clients.

  • When you move to a new home/dwelling
  • When you are planning a remodel or large scale changes, inside or outside the home
  • When you are planning new construction (whole home or just an addition)
  • If you are needing assistance with furniture placement and décor choices
  • If you are looking to beautify your home and/or create a more harmonious, relaxing environment
  • If you are looking to improve certain aspects of your life or just your well-being in general

First the client fills out a detailed questionnaire and provides an accurate floor plan that  helps to prepare both myself and the client for the consultation. Included in the consultation are

  • the numerology of the home
  • Kua numbers for each person living in the home (this determines an individual’s best personal directions)
  • identification of life aspiration areas and how to enhance them. help with any decor questions or interior design issues the client may have
  • a space clearing and home blessing

Any follow up questions are welcome and will be answered via phone or email. No expiration date on that!

No. Absolutely not.  Most often we work with the items that the client already possesses, adjustments can be made with minimal impact to the home and its occupants. If you are looking for a major change then we can work along that route but it is not necessary for it to be effective. If you are considering remodeling it would be very beneficial to take a look at the proposed plans before committing to anything to be sure that it will be conducive to the overall Feng Shui of the structure.

Again no. Absolutely not.  The method that I employ is based on the concept of common sense and practicality, not superstition.  I don’t feel a bowl of nine oranges in the East of the home will bring wealth, only rotten oranges. Or a lot of effort to keep nine fresh oranges there.

Every person and home is different. Some will see results right away, others may take a bit more time. A client’s participation and receptivity to the suggestions will play a large part in the results. Feng Shui will not eliminate all our worldly problems but it will help us to eliminate energetic blockages within our surroundings and, in turn, within our own selves.

YES! All consultations are 100% strictly confidential, as are all of my services.

Fees vary depending on the size of the home and the distance I have to travel to get to your home. There are no travel fees for anywhere within the CBJ.  You may inquire about travel fees outside of this area and there is always the option of a long distance consultation.

Again, it varies depending on the size of the home or space. Most consultations are between two and a half to three and a half hours.
